Cooler Nights guide
Cooling pillows and pillowcases explained
Reviewed August 26, 2026
What helps with a warm head, damp hair or a heat-trapping pillow.
Start with the pillowcase
A breathable, moisture-managing pillowcase is a low-cost experiment. It may improve surface comfort without changing the support of a pillow you already like.
Ventilation versus cool touch
Ventilated construction can allow more airflow through a pillow. Cool-touch covers may offer stronger initial sensation, but that feeling can diminish as the surface warms.
Support still comes first
A pillow that feels cool but does not support your sleep position can create a new problem. Consider loft, firmness, fill movement and washability along with temperature claims.
Care and replacement
Check whether the cover is removable, whether the fill can be washed and how long the return window lasts. Cooling terminology does not override ordinary hygiene and durability needs.
Health note
Cooling products may improve comfort, but they do not treat the cause of night sweats. New, severe or persistent symptoms should be discussed with a qualified healthcare professional.
